The Process or 7 steps to your future
So you decided that you might just Marry someone out of your
country.Having gone through the process myself in 1996, I will attempt
to convey to you the process that it takes step by step to marry
a foreign bride or husband as the case may be. Actually the process
for the steps that you need to take our much simpler than most people think.
Step 1
Is very simple First you must purchase addresses . The fees
range from $10.00 per address to memberships fees of several
hundred dollars. Shop around but also look at who they have as advertisers.
Many services let you view there advertisers for free. I personally found
that memberships offer the best deal because you can continue to request
more address with no additional charges. If your serious? I'm my
opinion memberships are the only way to go. And memberships in two or three
places is not a bad idea ether.
Step 2
Again very simple If your intent is marriage and a long-term relationship?
Then you should continue with a extensive letter writing process of at
least six months or more. By the third month of correspondence you should
have settled down to six or seven penpals that you are writing. After six
or seven months of correspondence you will have most likely decided on
two or three persons that you wish to meet. This process will cost you
postage and phone calls
Step 3
Again very simple This is however the most expensive part.
It requires you to book a flight to Asia, or to wherever your penpal is
and arrange to meet them. I recommend that you spend as much time as possible
for this process. I personally took three weeks in Asia, nine days in Hong
Kong, and the rest of the time in the
Philippines. Cost for this will vary, I spent $1,200.00 US in air
fare. While a friend of mine got a special deal to Hong Kong including
lodging for under $500.00 US. And on another
trip a friend was put up in the family's house while visiting his
pen pal. Safe Travel Advice As a note here this was one of
the best times I ever had in my life. Even if I would have not met my future
wife I still would have been glad for just the trip.
Step 4
Again not hard. If you get to this step and you have decided that
you have met the right person for you. Congratulations! Now some people
recommend that you get married there. But I personally recommended against
that. The simplest is to apply for a fiancee visa back here in the U.S..
The process and red tape here in the U.S. takes approximately six months
and around $85.00 U.S.. The process went very smoothly for me because I
hired an attorney for the cost of $500.00 to file the paperwork.
This expense is optional however I recommended it. The exact
process changes and It may be inaccurate. I know three couples that the
process each one had was different. The simplest way is
to simply follow the procedure INS lays out for you. Here
are the requirements we needed .
What Your Fiancee may need for her interview.

Step 5
Getting her here. This process is very simple it involves either
buying a plane ticket and
sending it, or buying a voucher with the airline that she can pick
up that they get where she lives. Check with your travel agent. The cost
again will vary.
Step 6
The marriage. Your fiance Visa will require that you marry your fiance
within three
months. Again the cost will vary.
Step 7
Change of status. After you are married before the 90 days. You are
required to file a change of status with the INS. the cost is approximately
$200.00. I personally chose to hire an attorney for additional three hundred
dollars for this process. Since it was the same attorney that had filed
my fianceeVisa, and most of the paper work and information is the
same, The cost was $300.00. This cost will vary but I highly recommend
using an attorney.
